In first &#8211; follow the <a href=\"http:\/\/lora.vsb.cz\/index.php\/gateway-assemble\/\">basic assemblage manual<\/a>. LP-088. 15cm<\/li>\n<li>4x SMA(m)-SMA(f)panel. waterproof, RG58 50cm<\/li>\n<li>4x 5G antenna SMA(m)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<h2><strong>Step 1: Assembly the EVB RMU500-EK<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Prepare <a href=\"https:\/\/cz.mouser.com\/ProductDetail\/Quectel\/RMU500EK?qs=GedFDFLaBXHdknhJfCT0cA%3D%3D\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Quectel RMU500-EK 5G evaluation board<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.quectel.com\/product\/5g-rm520n-gl\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Quectel RM520N-GL 5G module<\/a> and 4x pigtails with U.FL(f)-SMA(f) panel LP-088 15cm.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Step 1.1:<\/strong> Insert the RM520N 5G module into the M.2 slot within EVB and tighten the screw.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Step 1.2:<\/strong> Connect the module with 4 IPEX4-SMA(f)panel cables.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Step 1.3:<\/strong> Place the heatsink on the module and tighten the screws.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Step 1.4<\/strong> (Optional): Remove 4 build-in board antennas.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><strong>Step 2: Quectel RM520N Module Basic Configuration<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Prepare USB-C cable, at least one 5G antenna SMA(m) and SIM card. Use Windows OS for the most comfortable way to setup 5G module connection.<\/p>\n<h5 style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><strong>Step 2.1:<\/strong> <strong>Connect module to PC<\/strong><\/h5>\n<ol>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ol>\n<li>Screw the antenna(s) into the SMA(m) connector(s), insert SIM card and connect evaluation board with PC via USB-C cable.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/lora.vsb.cz\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/RM520N-GL-driver.zip\">Download<\/a> and install drivers for RM520N-GL.<\/li>\n<li>After installation check the device manager. In COM ports there should be ports associated with RM520N-GL. You should also see new modem port in section \u201cModems\u201d.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 80px;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-3274 alignnone\" src=\"http:\/\/lora.vsb.cz\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/win.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"289\" height=\"366\" srcset=\"https:\/\/lora.vsb.cz\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/win.png 289w, https:\/\/lora.vsb.cz\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/win-237x300.png 237w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 289px) 100vw, 289px\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\">\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 4. Download Quectel QCom tool for serial communication with module.<\/p>\n<h5 style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><strong>Step 2.2: Setup 5G connection<\/strong><\/h5>\n<ol>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ol>\n<li>Open QCom tool. In the \u201cCOM Port Settings\u201d choose \u201cCOM Port\u201d corresponding to the AT port of the modem (check Windows device manager). Leave the other settings as default and open the port.<\/li>\n<li>To check communication with modem, type \u201cat\u201d in the \u201cInput String\u201d area and send command to the module via \u201cSend Command\u201d button. Modul should answer \u201cok\u201d.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<pre style=\"padding-left: 80px;\">AT command: at\r\nResponse:\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 ok<\/pre>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\">\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 3. Check the module band configuration with <em>AT+QNWPREFCFG=&#8220;nsa_nr5g_band&#8220;<\/em>. Module will answer the currently configured 5G NR NSA bands.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 80px;\">Example:<\/p>\n<pre style=\"padding-left: 80px;\">AT command: AT+QNWPREFCFG=\"nsa_nr5g_band\"\r\nResponse: +QNWPREFCFG:\"nsa_nr5g_band\",1:3:7:20:28:40:41:71:77:78:79\r\nOK<\/pre>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 80px;\">In the case there is missing band in the configuration you can set it with command <em>AT+QNWPREFCFG= &#8222;nsa_nr5g_band&#8220;,band_number:band_number<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 80px;\">Example Set 5G NR NSA n1 and 5G NR NSA n2:<\/p>\n<pre style=\"padding-left: 80px;\">AT command: AT+QNWPREFCFG= \"nsa_nr5g_band\",1:2\r\nResponse: \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 OK<\/pre>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 80px;\">Instead of nsa_nr5g_band you can use \u201c<em>gw_band\u201d, \u201clte_band\u201d and \u201cnr5g_band<\/em>\u201d depending on the technology you need to configure.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\">\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0 4. Set Network Search Mode to AUTO wit <em>AT+QNWPREFCFG= &#8222;mode_pref&#8220;,AUTO.<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 80px;\">Example:<\/p>\n<pre style=\"padding-left: 80px;\">AT command: AT+QNWPREFCFG= \"mode_pref\",AUTO\r\nResponse: \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 OK<\/pre>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\">\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 5. Define PDP context with command <em>AT+CGDCONT=1,&#8220;IP&#8220;,&#8220;APN&#8220;<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 80px;\">Example Set DPD context with context identifier 1, packet data protocol type IPv4 and APN set as \u201cinternet\u201d:<\/p>\n<pre style=\"padding-left: 80px;\">AT command: AT+CGDCONT=1,\"IP\",\"internet\"\r\nResponse: \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 OK<\/pre>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 80px;\">Instead of \u201cAPN\u201d you need to use APN of your service provider. If the value is null or omitted, then the subscription value will be requested.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\">\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 6. Activate PDP context with command AT+CGACT=1,4.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\">\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 7. At this moment, modem should be connected to the network. Check assigned address with AT+CGPADDR=1.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 80px;\">Example:<\/p>\n<pre style=\"padding-left: 80px;\">AT command: AT+CGPADDR=1\r\nResponse: \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 +CGPADDR: 1,\"101.101.101.101\"\r\nOK<\/pre>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\">\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 8. To be able to access the internet from Raspberry Pi, it is necessary to change\u00a0 modem mode with AT+QCFG=\u201dusbnet\u201d,1.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\">\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 9. Restart modem.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h5 style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><strong>Step 2.3: Check settings a internet connection<\/strong><\/h5>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 80px;\">1. Disconnect USB-C cable from PC and connect evaluation board to the Raspberry Pi.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 80px;\">2. Power up Raspberry Pi and log in to your account.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 80px;\">3. Check your network interface with command \u201c<em>ip a<\/em>\u201d. You should see a network interface corresponding to the 5G modem called \u201c<em>usb0 <\/em>\u201d. You can also display information about USB buses in the system and the devices connected to them with command \u201c<em>lsusb<\/em>\u201d. Connect evaluation board with Raspberry Pi via USB-C cable.
